About the Role
We're looking for a part-time contract Social Media & Content Specialist in Bellingham, WA to create standout social content, run Meta ad campaigns, and support content marketing for Brilliant Marketing and our clients. The right person has a sharp design eye, is plugged into social trends, and can turn a strategy into scroll-stopping content.
The role starts at 20-30 hours per week on a contract basis, with the option to move to full-time as the role and our client roster grow. The ideal candidate has 2–3 years of social media experience, ideally at an agency, working across multiple brands and clients at one time, and a portfolio that shows strong design work.
Our Account Director runs client relationships and project management. That frees you to focus on what you do best: creating great content and keeping our clients' social channels fresh and performing.
What You'll Do
Social Media Content + Design
Design on-brand social graphics, carousels, and templates in Canva (Adobe experience a plus)
Concept, create, and edit Reels, short-form video, and Instagram Stories
Write engaging, on-brand captions
Develop social strategies for both organic and paid social
Read social media strategy documents and creative briefs, then bring that direction to life in content
Create content for Brilliant Marketing's own channels and our client accounts (currently 5+ clients, likely to grow)
Make sure all content stays within each client's brand guidelines, messaging, and strategy
Incorporate feedback from the internal team and clients
Channels include Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and potentially TikTok and YouTube
Trends + Ideas
Stay on top of social trends, formats, audio, and platform updates
Spot which trends fit each client's brand and strategy, and adapt them
Pitch fresh content ideas and new formats to test
Publishing + Community
Schedule and publish content in social media scheduler (Metricool) or directly to client channels
Monitor channels and engage with comments, communities, and relevant accounts
Paid Social (Meta Ads)
Set up campaigns in Meta Ads Manager, including audiences, budgets, placements, and creative
Monitor and optimize campaigns weekly
Design and write ad creative
Pull performance metrics for client reporting
Stay current on Meta Ads best practices and trends
Currently 4 clients, likely to grow
Newsletters, Blogs + Copyediting
Write, build, and send email newsletters in Mailchimp and Hubspot
Write blog content
Copyedit marketing materials for clarity, tone, and brand consistency
Help with special projects as needed, such as product and service one-sheets
Tools: Canva, Metricool, Meta Ads Manager, Mailchimp, Notion, social platforms (see above)
What We're Looking For
A strong design eye. Please include a portfolio of social content you've created
Hands-on experience running Meta ad campaigns
Excellent writing skills, from punchy captions to newsletters and blog posts
Someone who lives on social, knows what's trending, and knows how to adapt trends for a brand
A creative self-starter who takes direction and feedback well
Detail-oriented, organized, and reliable with deadlines
Curious and always learning, testing, and trying new things
Collaborative and customer-centric
Someone who can easily switch tasks between clients and brands
Compensation
$22-$30/hour, contract (1099)
Flexible schedule
10% commission on new or upsold clients you bring in
Option to transition to a full-time role
Location: Bellingham, WA, Whatcom or Skagit County / Hybrid role 1-2 days/week in office; Pacific business hours availability required
